Boston/Paris – MEGA International, a global software company recognized as a leader in enterprise architecture for 14 consecutive years, organized on November 29, its annual digital conference which brought together 2,300 IT professionals from around the world. This key enterprise architecture event highlighted the need for better collaboration between IT teams and businesses to create value in the company.
Luca de Risi, Chief Operating Officer at MEGA International, opened the discussions by focusing on the key role of the enterprise architect in helping organizations in their migration to the cloud, their data governance, the implementation of more sustainable IT and structure the dialogue between IT and business teams.
During panel discussions and exchanges, experts and analysts shared their feedback:
- Tara Castleberry (Creo Technology Services) and Dan Hebda (MEGA International) they discussed the added value of enterprise architecture within organizations, highlighting the role of architects in helping transformation projects through the necessary alignment between the IT approach and business challenges.
- Robert Raiola (MEGA) moderated the discussion with Christophe Robin (Nexans), Qasim Chughtai (Doctors without Borders) and Leslie Robinet (MEGA), which focused on how enterprise architects are adapting to current major trends to develop security and sustainability – this giving them greater visibility and influence within organizations.
- Carlo Ercole (Corner Bank) shared his feedback with Paul Estrach (MEGA) on how the enterprise architect enables organizations to implement more flexible and agile IT to increase their ability to adapt to change.
- Crystal Singh (Info-Tech Research Group) and Frédéric Fourquet (MEGA) insisted on the interdependence between enterprise architecture and data governance to get the most out of data and generate value.
- François Beaume (Sonepar) and Cyril Amblard-Ladurantie (MEGA) discussed the necessary collaboration between architects and risk managers in a context of increasing cyber, geopolitical and economic risks in order to create “secure by design” systems.
During the conference, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions live to the speakers and to answer surveys on their perception of the role of EA within their organizations.
Key Learnings :
- 45%of respondents believe that enterprise architecture is seen as an opportunity to increase innovation and value creation in companies
- 66% of respondents say that collaboration between enterprise architecture and solution architecture is underway but that interactions could be strengthened.
- 60% consider that the interaction between the IT department and the risk departments could be improved to address issues related to cybersecurity.
- The priorities identified for 2023 are mainly process optimization (21%), data governance (20%) and cost reduction (17%).
- As for the role of enterprise architecture in data governance initiatives, 36% of respondents believe that enterprise architecture will help data governance projects by connecting applications to better understand data usage, while 32% believe this will be possible by leveraging business capabilities to align with business strategy.
